Welcome. This site is a tribute to Sri Palghat Mani Iyer, the greatest mridangist of all time. At this site you will find tributes paid to him by well known musicians and critics. Biographical sketches and impressions of Mani Iyer by his disciples and fans are included. You will also find an interview with the genius flute Mali on Mani Iyer and another with Mani Iyer himself. 

2012 is the birth centennary year of Sri. Palghat Mani Iyer. So far, the  following programs have been arranged.

Chennai - Sri. Umayalpuram Sivaraman @ the Music Academy - Jan 28th.
Mumbai - Sri. Karaikudi Mani @ Shanmukananda sabha - Feb 24th. 
Palghat - Sri. Trichy Sankaran - March 2nd
Palghat - Sri. Umayalpuram Sivaraman - March 3rd
Palghat - Sri. Haridwarmangalam A.K. Palanivel and Ustad Zakir Hussain - March 4th
In the U.S.A,  Cleveland Aradhana festival to be held in April 2012, will have programs in honor of Palghat Mani Iyer. Please check back for more details.
